it's a new year, and ech is back in action starting january 12 at Pete's Birthday Party Spectacular at Mojo's (also a benefit for the Central MO Food Bank). this is a covers only show where we will be performing a tribute to one of our favorite bands! only one way to find out who it is...

on feb 9, we'll be playing our own songs (including some new ones) at the blue note in columbia. and we're in st. louis on feb. 10.

new packaging, same great sound! tonight we play at mojo's with the starlight mints, and tonight we'll officially welcome our friend taylor bacon to the band as our new drummer. he doesn't miss a beat, so check out the new lineup.

victory!! it was damn close, but we emerged victorious at the eastside clash of the titans on friday! respect is due to our fellow performers that night: shirelle c. limes and the lemons, blacksmith, and jumbling towers. everyone put on an awesome show!

now it's even more serious. we advance to the final round on SATURDAY JULY 29 and we need your vote!! there's untold riches and glory at stake!! and ellie come home loves a challenge. this will surely be our most explosive show of 2006!

moral of the story: SATURDAY JULY 29. EASTSIDE. BE THERE.

and be there early! the order is chosen randomly and the first band starts at 9 pm!! so far, we're up against megazilla (our drummer joey's other band). the other two finalists will be chosen this weekend on friday and saturday.

as an added bonus, you can see us in a more mellow setting on july 26 at Ragtag with our dear friend Peter and the Wolf. and with any luck, that will be our first chance to offer our brand new CD to you! it's all happening!

well, mastering took longer than expected but it's finally done and now we're off to the pressing plant, so we should have a CD around mid-July!

in other exciting news, Emergency Umbrella Records, based here in Columbia, will release our CD this fall. we're already up on their web site at www.emergencyumbrella.com.

and finally, we'll play a special acoustic show tomorrow at mojo's with our new friend lizzie west and the very talented lucas oswald of never perfect intentions. hope to see you!

how appropriate that the new album, Primary Sources, is officially finished on this day of the beast. now we're off to the mastering process at catamount studios in iowa. and now that the album is done, it's time to tour. we'll be traveling around the midwest this summer so look for us! and for the kids in columbia, we'll play our first show in a while this saturday june 10 at eastside...

we are making a new record! we're hibernating from shows for a couple of months while we work on 15 new songs. we're also hibernating from the unseasonable cold, so it's a good time to be recording. i even left my job for a month so i could spend all my time making a great record. so far, we've laid down almost all of the instrumental tracks, and we're starting to work on vocals. we'll finish tracking in april, and hopefully the whole thing will be mixed, mastered and pressed by june. we'll put some new songs up on the website as soon as they're ready. in the meantime, we'll return to the stage on april 21 when we play with our friends in the foundry field recordings at their CD pre-release show. see you there!

been practicing like fools this week, getting our new musicians up to speed. joining us on bass is our friend matt, and handling drums and percussion is the inimitable joey. we'll premiere our new line-up at Mojo's on monday when we play with the lymbyc systym, a very cool duo from arizona. also, if you haven't checked out feist yet, do so now. she played here on wednesday and is amazing.

well we made it this far, but we can't go on. not without the rock. Ellie is growing, she's a big girl now. we've added drums and bass to the line-up, and now the possibilities are endless. we're frantically working on a whole new batch of songs to hopefully have ready to bring to the people at our many upcoming shows. stay tuned!

well we started the new year off right on friday, with a ridiculous cover of 'keep on loving you' by REO Speedwagon, sung with the help of the crowd at mojo's, which was jam-packed with more than 200 people for the Central Missouri Food Bank Benefit Concert/Pete's Birthday Party. we got to play songs from 1980 alongside Columbia's finest local acts, and it was a good cause to boot. seth also made a guest appearance on synth with local superstars Witch's Hat. and then we all got stinking drunk.

now that that's behind us, we're looking ahead to a busy couple of months with lots of cool shows coming up. the highlight is a saturday night show at Vaudeville Mews in des moines, a show we booked with the help of Rachel's, a band we count among our musical heroes, and you should, too. we're working on lots of new material, so check us out soon!
